Once the Awarding Agency/ Country informed the Ministry publishes the scholarshipsin theMinistry website and Sinhala, Tamil&English newspapers. Those who wish to apply for the scholarshipscan apply by submitting the applications directly to the Ministry of Higher Education by hand or via registered post to reach on or before the closing date. The respective specimen of application for each scholarshipcan be downloaded from the Ministry website.

Interview

Candidates are required to present himself/ herself at an interview to be held at the Ministry of Higher Education when they called. Generally the interviews will be held within a monthperiod after the closing date. The candidates should produce original certificates and other documentary evidences in support of his/her candidature at the Interview.

Nomination for Scholarship

No candidate should treat his/her nomination for a Scholarship by the Ministry to Awarding Agency / country as the final selection. Awarding of a scholarship is a matter entirely within the discretion of the Awarding Agency to whom the nomination is made. Selected candidates who decline to accept the award will not be considered for any other award during the year.

Special Note: 01

In the case of Undergraduate courses,

  1. Applicant should not be a student already registered or following an undergraduate course as an internal student at a university comes under the purview of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka.
  2. Applicants should fulfill the minimum qualification for the university entrance stipulated by the university Grants Commission, Sri Lanka.
  3. Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of the Z score obtained at the G.C.E A/L Examination.
  4. All the qualifications should be fulfilled at the closing date of applications.Full Scholarships may cover; Tuition fees, living allowance, Airfare…etc.
  5. Partial Scholarships may cover a percentage of course fees and the studenthas to bear the airfare, accommodation and living expenses.
Special Note: 02

Selected candidates are required to provide the following documents with the application form to be sent to the relevant government/ authorities in time as per the requirements of the relevant countries. Application form and necessary information will be provided to the nominated students.
