Student Loans Scheme Division

The main function of this division is to annually implement the interest-free student loan scheme initiated in accordance with a budget proposal in 2017,

Functions

Calling for online applications from students eligible for university admission based on the results of the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination released by the Department of Examinations during the past three consecutive years.

Conducting interviews to verify eligibility.

Selecting students for relevant degree programs through an online data system.

Registering selected students for the relevant degree programs at recognized non-state higher education institutions.

Processing loan disbursements.

Continuously monitoring students' academic progress and repayment activities.

Maintaining effective coordination with the General Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, and the technical institution managing the data system.

Resolving student appeals and maintaining strong collaboration with non-state higher education institutions.
